Delegation with Andrew Dismore MP
A delegation from the Burnt Oak Nepalese Community, London attended a meeting with the Hendon Constituency MP Right. Honourable Andrew Dismore MP on 27 Jun 2009 at his Constituency Office. The meeting was invited by Mr Dismore. The following represented the Delegation.

The meeting was at very friendly atmosphere discussing about solving any issues of the Nepalese Community resided in Hendon Constituency area. However, the meeting was mainly focused on the Gurkhas Equal pension issue. Mr Desmond shared his backing for the Equal Pension for the Gurkhas motion among the MPs. The motion is backed by 16 others MPs. The memo quotes
“That this House welcomes the residency rights given to former Gurkha soldiers; notes that the British public united unanimously behind the Gurkhas in their campaign for equality fo treatment with fellow British soldiers; further notes with concern that one area of inequality still remains relating to Gurkhas who have protected the interests of the United Kingdom by serving prior to 1997, but still do not receive a fair pension equal to their fellow British Army soldiers with the same service; recognises that Gurkhas who retired from the Army prior to 1997 receive a pension settlement between as little as 1/6th or 1/8th of that of the UK soldiers they serve served alongside; acknowledges that they are simply asking for Gurkhas to be treasted as equals by the Biritish Government by ensuring that all Gurkhas, regardless of when they served, receive from this point onwards a fair pension, equal to fellow British Army soldiers with the same service; and calls on the Government to consider giving all Gurkhas an equal and fair pension in the future.

To support the motion with facts and figures, Mr Desmore wishes to survey which he will provide a questionnaire in very near future. He also emphasised to maintain the culture and tradition. In that respect, he is assiting to provide some Nepali books in Burnt Oak Library.
At the end of the meeting, The General Secretary of Bunrt Oak Community, Mr Lachhya Gurung handed a letter to Mr Adrew on behalf of all members of Burnt Oak Nepalese Community and all former Gurkhas who are residing in your constituency to seek your assistance in achieving true and equal treatment for all Gurkhas.
